Oh Ottawa!!

Whether you’re a native of the Canadian capital, or you’re a visitor to our fair city; welcome to my website devoted to all things OTTAWA!

If you’re planning a trip to the beautiful Ottawa region, there’s plenty to see or do. From the historic Parliament Buildings to the scenic Rideau Canal, not to mention the dozens of cool festivals, such as the internationally-renowned Winterlude, the Tulip Festival, Bluesfest, and many more…

And I am here to give you all the juicy insider info and gossip, and hot hints and must-see’s, from a friendly local who knows what’s what (and will tell you everything straight from the horse’s mouth). Frommers and Lonely Planet ain’t got nothing on me!

But, believe it or not, I actually originally started writing this as a guide for my friends who would visit from Toronto, Montreal, and from the U.S. and Europe. I sent them emails and tidbits as I wanted to tell them more about the city where I live and all the great & exciting things you can do here. Anyways, what started as a bit of fun grew into the website you’re reading today…

Of course, Ottawa has a reputation as being a stuffy capital of politics and business, yet truly it is a happening city with incredible events and activities. An exciting location for tourists and those looking to relocate within Canada. But, yes, sometimes it can live up to its perceptions of being a tad boring, but only if you don’t know where to go!! And if you’ve never been on Parliament Hill, by the Peace Tower, on Canada Day – you don’t know what you’re missing!

Also, Ottawa is just across the river from Gatineau, with its lively Casino and Quebecois cuisine. While, the fine dining in the Byward Market is excellent. Top notch, really!

Plus, Ottawa is hopping with festivals all year around. Winterlude is the most special, at the start of the year, in the dead of winter. The Rideau Canal freezes over and millions take to the ice. And there are little huts which sell delicious ‘beavertail‘ pastries. Mmmm. But more about that later…

Definitely, with a calendar of upcoming events and activities in the City of Ottawa, and including tips for the best places to visit, the best tickets in town, the arts scene, the museums, the cafes, the bars, the restaurants, and tourist spots, the trendy shops in the Byward Market and in the Glebe, as well as everything you need to know about Ottawa from a real-life Ottawan; you’re in the right place here at my website.

If you want to know what’s really going on, it’s always been said ‘Ask a Local.’ So, feel free to drop me a line or a comment with any questions or tips of your own.

And welcome to my Ottawa website – hope to see you around the capital soon!
